But not really here, either. However, thought I’d check in quickly.
Am moving to Seattle in the next week or so. Movers asked for a five-day window, so they could be here as early as Wednesday this week (today’s Monday) or as late as next Monday. A week from this Tuesday I’ll start the drive up. Bought a beautiful condo in the central area, on 15th, up on Capitol Hill.

Last weekend I went to New Orleans with a friend. It was great fun.

This weekend I said good-bye to Little Cat, said good-bye to my house, and climbed the mountain to scatter my mom’s ashes. It was yet another weekend of loss.

But now — I’m looking forward again. Looking forward to the move, to the next phase of my life. Not doing much writing — some — but it’s all exercises and therapy fic that will never see the light of day. ::shudders::

As for scattering my mom’s ashes — my family has a tradition of flying. My mom was an aeronautical engineer. My family tells stories about itself. Now we have a new myth — that I was so high in the world (above 10,000 feet) and it was so windy (because it really was) my mom’s ashes scattered around the world in a matter of minutes.
So maybe you need to think about the myth that you want to build around the process. It sure helped me — my family. And now that it’s done — all I can say is that I feel lighter, if that makes any sense.

because so much of it lives in our heads, or in our actions. That said, May your new new start in Seattle be fulfilling for you- and my envy to you for being by one of my favorite harbors. Seattle is a good place.
