Well — that was interesting.
The prompt today was, “So these were my friends. . .”
It started out with a character, Caitie, and her coffee klatch, a group of women who she’d get together with once a week.
It turned into a real rant about men not treating their women right, and how this group of women, with their various knowledge and talent, would sometimes stage an intervention, as it were. Accidents would happen to these men. Occasionally fatal accidents.
It all led to this — while Caitie might not always stand up for herself, if you threatened one of her friends, she was going to hurt them bad.
Sheer wish fulfillment — but not. Threatening a woman’s friends or her family is the quickest way to bring out something fierce.
It was a pretty good writing session today. I felt a little less writerly than I did yesterday while doing it, but still more than from the day before. I figure it’s got to qualify as a good session if at least once or twice I felt like I used a cool turn of phrase or a really neat image. Just have to keep building on those.
Just keep “practicing.” Eventually, it all comes back.
That’s kind of what I’m hoping – that part of the current dry spell is a lack of practice, not just all the life stuff.
