The news

My mother died Friday afternoon, after suffering a massive heart attack. It was very sudden and unexpected.

The memorial service is on Wednesday.

I’ll be in Mpls for the week. You can reach me either on my cell or at my brother’s house.

Be sure to give those near and dear to you an extra hug tonight, okay?

I am very sorry to hear about your mother; I really appreciated having the chance to know her and your father. They were really kind when I showed up on your doorstep in the middle of a blizzard and put me up for the night (among many many instances of kindness and hospitality).

Oh no, what a sudden loss! Your mom was a neat woman — so active and all. I remember how fun and friendly she was when she visited Austin and at your California wedding. Man. Deepest sympathies for your loss.

  4. Told you this Fri., but I feel it bears repeating. I am extremely sorry for your loss, and my thoughts are very much with you. You are such a brave woman, and I just can’t tell you how inspiring your courage is to all of us.

    Love,
    T.

  6. I’m so sorry, Leah–I tried to go and give you a hug at the mass signing on Friday, but by the time I worked my way over there, it was ‘way late. So, here’s a big virtual hug. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to help.
