I’m going to try to be better about posting again. One of the reasons why I think I can be more consistent about posting is because I am making better progress on the novel. Since WisCon, I’ve worked on the novel almost every day — I’ve only missed one day. I just finished the rewrites of chapter nine, which means I rewrote two chapters this week. I’d like to keep that pace, but I don’t know if I’ll get two chapters done this next week — I’m having a root canal on Thursday afternoon, and I may be out of it for a while. We’ll see.
I just updated my spreadsheet — the total word count is 100734. I’ve supposed only added 300 words since I last did a word count, but I know that many of the existing words were replaced with new ones.
This morning I did a training walk for the 3-day breast cancer walk — 8 miles. Then I came home and wrote. Now (at about 2 PM) I’m going to work for 3-4 hours on the day job. Then I think it’ll be time for flake for a while, don’t you agree?
Hope that everyone is having a great weekend!
I had my first (an only) root canal this last year. The numbing crud lasted 7 hours. WTF? But it wasn’t nearly as bad as I planned for it to be (being a wimp and terrified of dentists–so much so that my root canal was also only one of two cavities I have had in my life, both occurring at the same time).
Congrats on the writing. What I wouldn’t do to have mind done . . . But it will be. Come hell or high water. I’m so impressed on the walking. Yay for you!

The root canal went much better than I expected. I’m nicely recovering. The writing continues, and that makes me happy. I didn’t walk today, but I will tomorrow. Best of luck in everything!
I’m the veteran of several root canals – you shouldn’t be out of it more than a day or so. That said, the time will not be fun, but better than the alternative.
Yay on the writing and walking though! Sounds like a weekend well spent. :-)))
We just got back from wandering around the big public rose garden and one of the lakes. Now to go mow the lawn before sitting down to a few more hours of feverish writing activity. Have a great week!
I’ve had root canals before, and quite honestly, this has been the best one so far. I am a little out of it, but I’m recovering really nicely. I hope I’m going to be able to walk tomorrow.
Hope you had a great week as well!
Sunday
Hey! It’s Ilsa. About the root canal: you might want to stay home on Sunday anyways. And maybe just sleep. You’ll heal faster.
The only reason I say this is that my Mom used to be a nurse practitioner, and she mentioned you should probably rest. Just throwing it out there.
Plus I might not even come Sunday. If I’m NOT a mess on that day, something’s wrong. So I might stay home and devote the day to thinking about my Dad anyways. I can’t cry well in public and it’s a bad idea to try and distract myself, since I need to deal with it. So yeah, I should probably stay home anyways.
So don’t come on my account, in any case. 😛 ‘Tis all!
Re: Sunday
I probably will be there on Sunday. I’m feeling much better. I possibly could have walked today, but it would have been pushing it. By tomorrow morning I’ll feel even better.
Hope that your week has gone well! If I don’t see you tomorrow (Sunday) it will probably be another week or so after that — I will be out of town the weekend of the 23-24. ( is having a birthday party in Portland that I’m driving down to.)
Take care!
Re: Sunday
Blah. I am sick, and Mom said I shoukd stay home. And she’s right– I am kind of a mess. So I won’t be coming. But have fun anyhow!
Glad to see you here again! Hope the novel’s going well. And go you for the breast cancer walk!
It’s good to be here, though I’m not here much during the week — am putting in far too many hours for the day job. But the novel *is* going well, and the walking is so good for me. Take care of yourself!
