I had an interesting writing prompt this morning. The prompt was, “This is the voice of my body.” At first, I did a prose-poem type of thing that was very personal, talking about the voice of my body.
Then I started in on a fictional thing — from the point of view of a homeless person in Ester’s Park who has stigmata as the voice of his body. It’s a short piece but it’s very interesting to me how it flows, as well as some of the ideas and images. This is a keeper, I think.
It felt very good to write this morning. I’ve done a couple of writing prompts since I came back from WisCon, but none of them have been as satisfying as this one. The good news is that the day job insanity is close to being finished. I have a very good friend coming in for the weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing her. Then, next week, maybe I can start to have a more normal life again, instead of working, eating, working, sleeping, working — you get the picture.
Your prompt made me think of Fight Club and the articles “I am Jack’s Colon” and others written in first person about parts of the body. *g*
