The day job has gotten busy again, for another week or so.
::le sigh::
I just keep telling myself that the extra money is a *good* thing. Which is is, actually.
Day before yesterday the prompt was, “When the dust settles.” I ended up writing this story about Frank who tore down the wall between his living room and dining room in order to get rid of the voice in his head. Didn’t quite work, though. This morning I sat down with the original handwritten draft and typed out the full story, called, “The Escape Artist.” I’m really pleased with this story, actually. It’s longer than the other things I’ve been doing recently, which is a good thing. Plus, it’s taking something from start to finish, and I find a lot of satisfaction doing that.
That’s actually the plan, now. I’m going to continue to do the prompts, but I don’t plan on doing them every morning. Instead, the plan as it stands currently, is to do prompts only every second or third day, and to sit down and type up what I’ve written the other days. This has been a successful strategy so far, as this is the fourth or fifth story I’ve now finished.
Plus — I also managed to do this successfully with the novel as well — wrote out a piece that needed rewriting long hand then the next day typed it up and inserted it into the novel. Which is the end goal, you know. To get back to the novel.
Hope ya’ll are having a lovely, lovely weekend. For me — it’s time to get back to the day job. (Yeah, I know. Saturday and all. See extra money, above.)
Extra money is good–but getting back to the novel is super good!
