I finished the fourth short story for the Baker’s Dozen challenge!

Twyla learned early how to fight. The kids knew she was different, but she figured that was just her African-American dad and her Japanese mom. Now she learns just how different she is: she’s not even human. How will she balance all these expectations and definitions? Or will she just slip the leash and run?
This story is available for free here until I post the next short story.
I really like this story. I think a big part of it is because the plot works for me, better than in the last couple of stories.
Next week I have two days off. I’m taking a trip to Yakima, to go to some wineries. But I also am planning on writing two short stories next week. I hope to finish the first one on Wednesday, and the second one by Saturday. We’ll see what actually happens.
I’m about a quarter of the way through this challenge. I plan on writing up a “What I have learned so far” post tomorrow. In the meanwhile, since I finished early enough, it’s quilting time!
