Kind of an update.
I wrote on Saturday, about 2000 words. Went to a lovely party thrown by bridget_coila and mistymarshall. Good fun, good people, good times.
Sunday I attended the annual holiday brunch for my co-op, which was also a lot of fun. I decorated my place for Christmas, putting up lots of lights, hanging up my angels, as well as putting up a small (fake) tree on my table. Sunday night I did marbling — again, not too successful. I blame the materials.
Monday, come mid-afternoon, I started feeling really blah. Headache from hell and no idea what caused it. Plus, it was 80 in my place (central heat via radiators.) I finished making all my cards (cutting up pages that had been marbled both this year as well as extras from last year.)
Tonight, we’re going back to Remedy Teas for the Tuesday night writing thing. I still feel pretty blah, so in addition to my writing notebooks I’m also bringing my holiday cards, hoping to get at least a few of them written if there’s no fiction forthcoming (and chances are, there won’t be.)
Yesterday and today have served as reminders that I need to write when I can, because there are going to be times (like now) when I physically can’t. They’re also an excuse for me to be extra gentle with myself, and not to push. Well — not too much. *G*
I find it vaguely wrong, yet strangely fun to be commenting on your journal while sitting right across from you. Hee.
Also, your cards rock.
Hee! I’m glad that I made myself go out on Tuesday, even though I seriously felt like crap. Next Tuesday is the last time we’ll do it this year, though. . .
And thanks! I liked making my cards, even if the marbling was a bit frustrating.
I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks! It took me about a week, but I’m finally feeling much more like my regular self again.

I bet that was fun. They both seemed to be very cool people.
It was a lot of fun. You know you’re invited to their next party — because I’m invited to their next party, and I can bring you along as a guest, if you’d like to go. . .
::hugs::
Still worried about you. Contact me when you can.

I stumbled across your icon on Jay Lake’s page (which I found from the link on Jennifer Jackson’s blog) and recognized it as the cover from Papermage.
I wanted to let you know that I loved reading that book. I ended up finding it because I was researching Asian fantasy novels (since I am polishing up my Japanese fantasy novel) so that I would know what kinds of things were already published/who published them, etc.
I just wanted to let you know I enjoyed reading Papermage and all of the details that you put into it. I’ll have to check out your other books. Was Papermage the book that you got an agent with?

Re: fan of Papermage
Thank you for letting me know that you enjoyed my novel. I’m glad to hear that there are going to be more Asian-based stories out there.
Yes, Paper Mage was the book that I got an agent with. She was the second agent that I tried to get. And I know that some people have horrible tales of trying to get a publisher, but I almost got a contract from the first editor I sent the manuscript to. We did end up selling the novel to the third one who saw it.
Maybe I’ll end up having a horrible story for this new novel, since I’m no longer under contract — we’ll see.
Thank you again for letting me know how much you enjoyed Paper Mage. It kind of made my day (and was particularly nice after being sick for most of a week, unable to write.)
Re: fan of Papermage
I am still editing my novel, so we’ll see how it goes. You did do well submitting Papermage to get an agent so easily and sell quickly; I doubt I’ll be as lucky 🙂 but maybe the Japanese setting will make it stand out.
Good luck with your new novel! I’ll be interested to see how it goes for you.
