Now, it’s time to look ahead, and make some plans about what I’ll be doing for 2026. Possibly even set some goals.
I won’t have a wordcount for the year. First time in quite a few years. We’ll see if I maintain that, or if I decided midyear that I need to start counting words again.
I have several projects that I’d like to finish. That might be my goal. I need to write the last of the Water Witch Mysteries. I need to write the next of the Las Chicas Mysteries. I need to finish the fantasy mystery novel that I started. I need to finish the second book of the Cultivator series I started. I want to write the next book in the Hell Hound series. I also want to write the third book in the Ice Elf series, and then do a Kickstarter for fancy editions of all three books and the omnibus.
I have a bunch of short stories that are due. So I have more than enough projects to keep me busy for a year.
I’ll have a storybundle sometime next year. I’ve reached out to Jason and will let y’all know when something’s been decided.
As for publishing, I need to find more live events to attend. Sign myself up for more of those. We’re going to start doing Facebook ads again. We’re going to be teaching at Superstars conference this year. Probably not going to Worldcon, though it was originally kind of on the table. (Traveling in 2027, and will need to save for that.)
Then it’s sort of business as usual, publishing and keeping things afloat.
Diet, yeah. I’m going to be doing that. As I mentioned in the change of perspective, I’m going to start with IF and make changes accordingly.
I’m planning on doing a lot more exercise. I want to feel as though I could walk casually for a few hours without needing a break. Strong and healthy. Doing either 20 minutes exercise, or a bodyweight workout most days. 7K steps per day most days. Probably will increase that to 10K come summer, to get better at walking for travel.
I’d like to go hiking now and again come summertime. Walk up a trail and get in more steps. We’ll see if I manage to incorporate that as well as all the other things.
Continue to work daily on maintaining my stress levels. Consciously relaxing when I remember to. Doing my Wim Hof breathing most days. Actually relaxing and sleeping at night.
And I think that’s about it. I don’t have any big goals for the year except for losing weight, and I feel confident about that. The exercise goal is more loose, but I’m okay with that. As long as I continue to do my bodyweight workouts, get in my cardio, and walk, I’ll be good. It’ll be a slow build, but I’m okay with that.
So what about you? What do your goals for the new year look like?
