Writing prompts

I didn’t do a writing prompt for yesterday, Sunday. It was a day of drawing into my soul, of reading on the chaise lounge, looking out the window, hanging with the cat. I’m glad I took another day off — I think I needed it.

Today’s prompt was, “Write about the edges of things.” And there came Kara. She works in a museum and restores paintings. Old Mrs. Raymond gave the church in Ester’s Park, St. Stephens, a bunch of money to restore one of the paintings of Mary that they have. I can still see that painting — it’s odd, with Mary taking up most of the canvas space, eyes dark, turning away from the bright light that is her son in the temple with the priests and the pharasies, when they were testing his knowledge. I don’t think that this is a famous painting that I’m only half remembering — I think I’m making it all up. But do let me know if I’m not. . .Anyway, Kara is a member of St. Stephens and she gets the job. I don’t know where this story ends — but I love the painting and the edges and the details.

Today I finally got the manuscripts for WisCon, for the writer’s workshop. Two of the people I workshopped before, and as there are only three people. . . Should be an interesting session.
