So I didn’t make it to the Clarion West party tonight. Instead, I ended up writing about 1500 words of the first scene of chapter three. I’m pleased with it.
I decided that the new scene that needed to be added was Sa’el witnessing Kapumani’s ascension. Unfortunately, this involved a threesome. Now, while I’m not shy about writing sex scenes, something explicit is not appropriate for these books.
Why is it that Sa’el is the only one who regularly has sex? I’m still not sure about that.
Anyway. Enjoy!

When Kapumani kissed Zalik, Sa’el tried to turn his head. The goddess held him still. “It isn’t right,” he hissed.
The goddess’ amusement rolled over him. “Don’t be a hypocrite,” she chided. “You had sex with a ghost.”
“That was different,” Sa’el insisted. Klitakiia had needed comfort. This was a violation.
“I can only see through your eyes,” the goddess sighed. “But very well.”
Suddenly Sa’el’s vision shifted, and he saw the true nature of their encounter. Kapumani bore the eagle wings of her goddess form, though her body remained human. Instead of the sagging breasts and pot belly of an older woman she wore a younger woman’s flesh. Interlocking circles covered Zalik–Sa’el recognized the precise pattern of an artist.
Then Zeph moved to the other side of Kapumani, so she was bookended by the brothers. As he joined them, the stylized blocks of black and white that covered his body shifted into new patterns, flowing easily from his skin to Kapumani’s to Zalik’s and back. Magic built as their essences combined. Again the spiky energy of the Witch’s spell flowed around them, dripping like a white ribbon dragging over their bodies, seeping into the spaces between them.
