Updates and such

Tuesday night writer’s thing was different. A *very* large group also descended on the place, a salon, they were calling it, all there to discuss jealousy. I ignored them the best I could and tried to work, but it was difficult. I hope they don’t decide to use *my* tea shop every other week (which is how often they meet.) (And yes, I know I’m being horribly selfish. I want the tea shop to do well, and large groups like that help ensure that they will. But I’d like to keep meeting there too, and generally Tuesday nights were quiet.)

Most of the regular group didn’t make it last night, but noodles_consort came for a while, as did sjcox3.

I managed about 1000 words, coming close to finishing off chapter 12. This morning I woke up early and wrote another three pages, tying the current chapter up nicely as well as preparing for the next chapter. *pets lovely back brain for coming up with the solution over night*

I’ll type up chapters 11 and 12 by the end of the week, so that I can just start writing again come Saturday.

I’m struggling some with this section of the novel. It’s the last third (approximately.) I know what happens in the last chapter, the last few scenes. I’m still not quite sure how to get there. However, I am going to continue to trust my process, because just a few minutes ago I didn’t know what else belonged in the next chapter — I knew the first scene and the last scene but not the middle scene or scenes — and then suddenly, I knew exactly what had to happen there.

I love my brain.

    1. I really hope they don’t start coming every other Tuesday as well. Right now Tuesdays work for most of us, though. I would like to keep going to the tea shop, but maybe we’ll have to switch back to the coffee shop. . .

      ::sigh::

      ::hugs::

      Hope you’re feeling better!

  1. Trying to figure out how a group manages to keep discussing “jealousy” week after week. Ranty topics like that usually last me about two days and I’m done.
    And I usually need somewhere with alcohol, not tea, to discuss them.

    Hmm…we could come try to drive them away with counter-discussions if they continue to show up.We could come by and discuss “cute things we love”… fuzzy kittens, adorable ballet shoes, the color pink …until they cannot stand it and leave.

    Anyway…I am going to try to make one of these Tuesday writing things one of these weeks…its been hectic lately on Tuesdays for me for some reason lately… hopefully it will calm down after the holidays.

    1. Hi Leah!

      I understand about that frustration about larger groups that come in and soil the atmosphere. I was thinking along the lines like Bridget: coming up with a topic to drive them away, however I was thinking of my last writer’s group meeting, how we had to tone it down because of all the talk of sex, violence, sex, death. . .and laughing all the while.
      Good luck with the novel!

      1. Hey Honna!

        Best of luck with your writing as well!

        has commented on how interesting it was to be sitting next to someone at the tea shop, listening to her talk about torturing this person or that, giggling gleefully all the time. . . But I’m not sure that would scare this group either. Hopefully they’ll just go away on their own.

    2. We’d love for you to show up for one of the Tuesday night things. I won’t be attending another one until after the new year. Hopefully things will calm down enough for you that you’ll be able to come and join us!

      And somehow, I don’t imagine that much of anything is going to scare this group away. I hope they decide that the place is too small. Also — Jelousy was just the topic for that salon. My impression was that they would have a different topic every meeting.
