I finished typing up chapter 15 today. It turned out longer than expected, coming in at around 5500 words.

So if the next two chapters are both around 5000 words, that’ll bring me to 93K total. That’s actually about average for me for a first draft. I always write “short” as it were, and increase by about 10% between first and second draft. Which will bring the total up to 103K, perfectly respectable and about what I thought this novel would be.
I know I’m being completely overly-optimistic about being able to type up both chapters tomorrow. I think if I wasn’t going to do anything else all day I could, but tomorrow’s my book club, and so I’m going to take out a chunk of time in the afternoon. I might get it finished, though. I plan on having caffeine first thing in the morning. Or if both chapters were as “clean” as the last chapter. Chapter 16 is going to require a lot of rewriting as I type, though.
Tonight are the science fiction short films, which I’m looking forward to.
