Progress

Uhmm — I’ve pretty much finished all the bulleted points that I had in the outline for the rewrite.

I honestly didn’t think I’d get to this point until really close to the end of the 100 days. To say I’m shocked isn’t strong enough. I keep going back and looking at the list, seeing if I missed something.

Then again, I’ve worked really hard on this rewrite. I didn’t keep track of my hours, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it averaged out to more than an hour every day for 57 67 I fail at math days. I couldn’t have done this work in a shorter amount of time (not with everything else going on.) I still have difficulty rewriting for more than 3 hours in one go, whereas I can write first draft 6+ hours at a time.

Tomorrow I start reading the third novel out loud. It’s the final polish before I send them to my first readers. My ear will catch things my eye will miss. It generally takes me 1 day a chapter, to both read and correct. I often end up correcting things not just in the chapter in hand but throughout the novels. I’m starting with the third novel because I’ve already done this with the first novel.

I discovered that included in the standard software on my Mac is a program that will read text out loud. I’ve tried it, and it hasn’t worked for me so far. I was too distracted by the mispronunciations of names. I’ll try it again though — I have a couple of sections in particular that I want to try.
