Continuing our series of posts This one possibly should have been the first post, but I don’t always do things in order. The lovely pen in this icon is what I call my Katana pen. It’s shaped like a curved Japanese blade when it’s closed. It’s the first of the Waterman Serenite series. Mine is made from black lacquer and is no longer available. They do have a grey and blue one available, as well as the elements series (four Serenite pens, each representing one of the four elements — earth, wind, fire and water. When Waterman was having a traveling show, I went to the store to see them, because I am that much of a pen geek.)
But this post is about the latest in the Serenite series.
| Waterman Serenite, wood The latest in the Waterman Serenite series. Beautiful pen made from wood. |
I don’t know if I’d buy another in a series. I might. I really like how mine writes.
Would you be willing to post sometime on some good, affordable fountain pens? I’ve been thinking I’d like to start using them again, but I’ve no idea where to start, or which ones are quality.
It might be good for me to tell you that I’m left-handed as well. Some pens don’t seem to work well with us lefties.

I’d already thought about doing this — not next week but maybe the week after.
I’m aware that not all fountain pens work for left-handed people. I did see one, somewhere, that claimed it was good for left-handers, specially made, etc. I’ll link to it if I can find it again.
That would be fantastic. Yes, we lefties push instead of pull (at least those of us who don’t twist our hand around so that we actually end up essentially writing right-handed), and it can make a huge difference in how pens work.
While poking around, I found this:

Don’t know if you’d already seen it or not. I’m going to collect a bunch for a left-handed post at some post. As I’m not left-handed, I can’t really judge, but I figured a collection of link wouldn’t go wrong.
I think this will be a lovely affliction for me to acquire. The family will be thrilled to have gift ideas, and I can leave hints all over the place.
And there are *fabulous* catalogs you can go through! Levenger, Paradise Pen, all like that.
