Word count for today: 600 words
Stopping because I finished the chapter (chapter 3). It isn’t quite right, I’m going to need to do more rewriting. I’m wondering how much background I need to bring into this chapter, if I can leave some of the motivations behind the one character’s choices to be made clear in another chapter or if I really need to clear it up now. I’m suspecting that I need to do it now. Because while *I* know why he did what he just did, I figure the reader isn’t going to know enough about Japanese Taoist magicians to understand it.
But that’s okay — I think I know where this background would go, how I would add it. Just not going to add it today.
I have a better handle on the next chapter as well, and I hope to make some serious progress on it tomorrow.
