It’s official!

My last day of my current job with PeopleSoft (Oracle) will be March 9th. I’m going to take a week off, then on March 19th, I’m going to start work for Salesforce.com. (The Google opportunity wasn’t a good fit I’m afraid.)

I’m sad to be leaving my old job and my existing boss and co-workers. I’m excited about having a new job, about new opportunities. I’ll probably be in San Francisco the week of March 19th, and I may have some time to get together with people out there if anyone’s interested. (I’ll also be exhausted, so it can’t be too late. I’m not sure if I’ll have a car or not — probably not, as I can just take the BART in from the airport and they’ll put me up at a hotel just around the corner from the office — which is at One Market street. . . The Landmark Building.) I’m a bit nervous about all the new stuff I’m going to have to learn, and really excited about it as well. Plus the fact that I’m going to continue to be telecommuting 100%.

So the decision’s been made and it’s time to take that next leap forward!

  1. CONGRATULATIONS!

Oh, and bring warmer stuff if you are intending to be outside after dark – SF is deceiving with how cold it can get. We are up in the 70s during the day though – sweet!!!

    1. Thank you! I’ll keep an eye on the weather for the week I go out. The details are stil being worked out. But I’m really looking forward to it.

    1. Thanks! I’m hoping that I manage to do a lot of writing during that week off. Because once the new job starts, well, I’m probably going to be too busy and too tired to get a lot done.

    1. Telecommuting 100% is actually really, really good. I didn’t feel 100% on Thursday — I think it was all the stress leaving my body finally. I kept thinking that day — if I’d had to go into an office, I wouldn’t have been able to work, all my energy would have been taken up with the commute. As it was, I was able to stay in my PJs, curl up in my chair, and actually accomplish something.

I’ll drop you a line about getting together. Would be fun!

    1. That’s it exactly — exciting and scary all at once. But I’m really looking forward to it. I needed to change jobs. Thanks!

    1. Thanks! I’m happy with my decision. I know it’s too bad I’m not going to have to fly to Austin sometimes, just to SF. But maybe with the extra money I will be able to travel a bit more. . .
