I’m making a note here*

While laying in bed debating whether rising was going to be worth the pain (there’s no way to go from prone to upright without pain at this point) I made a connection I hadn’t before.

The chapter that required the most rewrite in the third novel (pretty much from scratch) was the second to the last chapter (the antepenult šŸ˜‰

The chapter that is requiring the most rewrite in the second novel (not as bad, but still, perhaps half from scratch) is the second to the last chapter.

These novels have different lengths (17 and 15 chapters, respectively.) They’re written from different POV characters. Yet they were both the chapters I really struggled with, and am still struggling with.

It may be just coincidence. My gut tells me it isn’t. That chapter required a lot of rewrite in the first novel as well. I suspect it has something to do with transitions, which are always a bitch. It’s taking those last few steps toward scenes that have been living in my head since the start of the writing. It requires wrapping up threads, while doing that final setup. These chapters are fixable, but it’s something that I want to be more aware of, the next novel, this transition section. So yes, I am making a note here.

*huge success. . .yes I am a geek. And you’re welcome! That song is now also stuck in my head for the rest of the day. Just sharing the love.
