I really do not want to take this LJ friends only. However, I keep getting spammed. Is this happening to anyone else?

i was for a while, but i banned the commenter, deleted the comments and flagged the user every time and it stopped, thankfully.
I have my comments set so that anonymous comments are not allowed (I”m sorry for those who might be reading this without an LJ account and wish to make some comment or something but I don’t need the spam and the trolls hiding behind the anonymous tags) and I also have it set so that the comments by those on my flist get through automatically and anyone else who comments gets pre-screened first. In that way I get to see things posted by people who DO have a livejournal account but who might just be in the game to stir up trouble – and I have no problem with banning those people and reporting them to where such reports need to go. But I really haven’t had much trouble with spam on my LJ. At least, not yet.
I don’t have much problem with spam. I just delete the comment, marking it as spam in the process.
Nope. I rarely get spam comments (maybe one a month).
I hardly ever get spammed on LJ.
I get a spam message every week or two, but just delete it when it shows up … it’s usually on an older post anyway.
I’m with on this, though for me it’s about every other month. Hopefully it clears up for you soon.
I get about three a year. I report it and delete it. I don’t know what makes an LJ a prime target. 🙁
I had a little spate of them, but I just flagged, deleted, and banned them as they came up. Have had two weeks of quiet since.
I’ve been 95% flocked in the past 6-12 months, but before that I was never spammed. Weird!
I’ve never really gotten spammed, though I do lock most of my entries and have anonymous comments disabled. If you don’t want to lock down, then‘s suggestions seem really sound. I didn’t even know you could do a lot of that – will be checking into myself. *hugs tight*

Only one spam ever, and deleted the person and it hasn’t happened again. May I ask the nature of the spam you receive?
A slight increase in spam recently for me too. Maybe one every few days. I have anonymous comments set to require screening, so I delete them (and mark them as spam). I prefer not to disallow anonymous comments since more often than spam, I get a real comment anonymously (i.e. by a non-LJ-account-holder).

i make occasional public posts but largely keep my lj journal friends only. my other blog — which is public only — gets a lot of spam, and i think i’m going to discontinue it.
