I was very privileged to be invited to one of Don Ehlen, the Insect Safari Bugs and Beer parties. Under the cut are just a few of the pictures I took.

Crusty crustacean I loved how this crab was covered with crustaceans. |

Leopard crab? Not sure, but it was pretty. |

Shells Very, very pretty shells |

Japanese style butterflies I loved these. They reminded me of a Japanese scrim. |

Irridescent butterflies It was difficult to capture how shiny these were. But they were amazingly shiny. |

Moths I loved the wings on these, and the eyes. |

Shiny bugs I loved the jewel tones and shiny quality of these bugs. |

Beatles! He had all kinds of beetles there. |

Flying grasshoppers Yeah, these were pretty amazing as well. |
Definitely check out the Insectarium next time you’re in New Orleans. Gorgeous butterfly and bug displays. And things like this can happen:
there were lots of live bugs at the party — I didn’t post a great picture I have of the one but I should. And thanks for the info! I will definitely check it out.
