Apologies

I had every intention of going to the last Clarion party tonight. I really did. I’m even wearing my Clarion T-shirt.

I also knew that I was going to take some time and write tonight. Just a little. Just for 30 minutes.

But you know — the first one is always free, try it you’ll like it, it doesn’t count if you don’t inhale — and so on. Two and a half hours later I finally resurfaced. It’s far too late to go to the party, and I’m too wiped out. On the plus side — I wrote. The words just flowed. The scene didn’t unfold as I thought that it would, and the magic was so different. All of this is very, *very* good, because it means I was inspired. It’s no longer just craft, but art. It still feels like mana from heaven. And you know — I’m still there, actually, in story land. Haven’t really come all the way back yet.

I’ve now finished chapters one and two long hand. I don’t know if I’ll be able to type them up this weekend or not. I intend to, but I’m not going to beat myself up if I don’t.

I will be doing training walks this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday (17 and 15 miles, respectively.) I’m currently begging asking people to sponsor me on my 60 mile walk in September. (Note: The real begging will be later, I’m sure, as I’m only just now starting my fund raising and the walk is 5 weeks away — eep!) Because of the training walks, I don’t know how much energy I’ll have when it comes to writing. Hopefully I’ll be able to write some, but as I said, I’m not going to beat myself up if I don’t.

  1. I’d be happy to sponsor your walk in September. I’ll be in Seattle by next weekend. After I get to town I’ll contact you about sponsoring your walk.

I’ve been thinking about hiking Little Si when I get to Seattle, to get myself into better shape for more strenous hikes. It’s only about 900ft of elevation gain. Care to join me?

    1. Hey — your hike sounds good to me! I am out of town from August 2 – 15th, so it will have to be after that. And I’d be happy to talk with you about the walk. See you in August!
