Hello!

There are lots of signs of spring around the property. The osoberries are blooming. These are a native plant and are always the first to bloom as well as fruit. In the yards of my neighbors, down along the cul-de-sac, I’m already seeing flowers. For me, green stems and leaves have popped out of the ground, but no flowers as of yet. Ditto with the tulips.

One of the other signs of spring are the herds of migrating elk. They follow a pattern, with the juveniles coming through, then all the females in a pack (the nursery pack we call it, as some of them are obviously pregnant) followed by the third pack, which has the big buck and the matriarch.

This is a picture of the second pack coming through. One of the elk was mostly skin-and-bones. I’m not sure what was going on with her, though she seemed integrated with all the others. (I think if she was really sick, they wouldn’t allow her to travel so closely with them.)
Elk!
As for the writing/business front, Blaze and I are still working on the marketing class that we’re taking. We went into it knowing that it would be months of work, and we weren’t wrong. Fortunately, the videos are funny and nothing’s been too difficult yet.

The first part of the class is all about testing various pieces of your marketing collateral by running a series of small ads, just getting clicks.

For example, we ran a series of ten taglines about the Jessica Keller Chronicles. There are specific criteria by which to judge if an ad is successful or not. We only needed to get two-three successful ads. Nine out of ten of our ads passed the criteria, most by two-three times the amount of clicks needed, without spending too much. In addition, the tag line we’re currently using for the series tested out in third place.

We’re hoping that by mid-April, we’ll be finished with this portion of the class and will move onto the optimizing the webstore portion.

Blaze is the one who will be doing the ads, but I’ve been there, watching all the videos with him, coming up with the right marketing words for the ads, etc. I’ll be doing the webstore, and he’ll be learning more about it right along with me.

I’m so very grateful to have a partner through all of this. This class would be a lot more daunting if I was doing it on my own.

Cheers!

Leah

Cover for Witch Mirror?
AJ's latest vision starts with a dozen people being yanked out of sight by a noose around their neck. It ends with just a single body, hanging from a beam in an open loft.

What the heck? Did she just witness the work of a serial killer? Or a cult?

The victim turns out to be more nefarious: a Catfisher, that is, someone who impersonates other people on the internet for attention and possibly money.

The reality TV show that exposes catfish turns their attention to AJ. As a successful psychic, she must be a fraud. Right?

Between being pushed for information by one of the show’s host, the machinations of her mother on the Milltown chamber of commerce, and trying to keep her relationship with Roland moving along, AJ has her hands full.

Particularly when a second, only somewhat reformed catfish comes to her for help after being threatened...

Witch Mirror?— a cozy paranormal woman’s mystery—continues the adventures of AJ, the quirky characters of the charming Pacific Northwest burg of Milltown, and leaves AJ with questions about magical powers and her path forward, with her family, friends, and lover.

Let the water—and the magic—flow.
