Yesterday, I attended my first solo show, where I went to sell books on my own. It was more fun than I expected. Plus, today, Sunday, while I’m tired, I’m a lot less tired than I thought I’d be. This means that I’m looking forward to doing more shows. I’ve signed up for a couple in December, we’ll see if any of them come through. They won’t be making final decisions until the first week of November.
The other good news about this event was that I made my table fee in the first hour, and continued to make money the following two hours. Though it was a four hour event, I only had one sale the last hour. Still, it was enough money that I didn’t feel as though I was wasting my time being there.
I wasn’t supposed to be part of this event. I was only planning on events come December. Sunday night, someone backed out and they needed a replacement. One of the authors I know who was going to be at the event volunteered me. I reached out and got in.
But that meant I needed to spend the week preparing. Which I did. That included crocheting some decorations for my table: two aliens and their UFO:

I also made bookmarks. I had paper I marbled that I hadn’t used yet. So I cut it into pieces, glued it to card stock, and made bookmarks.

Then, there was the whole table design. The event provided eight foot tables. I got a table rail, so I could hand stuff above my table, as well as put up decorations. I got curtains from Goodwill (and other stuff) for the table. Then there were the books. Here’s what it eventually looked like at the event:

And here’s proof of life! Me at the event.

Oh, and in case you were wondering what the signs said, they were all one-liners about the books. Here's the one about "A Dragon's Guide to Killing Gods (and other lies)".

I’ll reassess today, repack my boxes, get myself set up for the next event, which is next Sunday. Tomorrow I’ll restock and order more books. I have enough for the next event, but not enough for the event in a couple weeks.
If you have any questions about the events, feel free to ask!
The other things that I need to do this week include more Kickstarter stuff (there are just a few people who haven’t responded to the survey). Reconciling bank accounts for Q3. Write a short story (or two). Knit more on my sweater (waiting for yarn to arrive for more table decorations). And possibly cook some more meat. I’m not sure. We have a lot currently that needs to be eaten.
And I guess that’s it for me for this week.

Daring starship captain? Check.

Best friend/deadly assassin? Check.

Rosey may, perhaps, be a little upset when the hacker that Jamaal hires steals the alien data core that he was supposed to decode.
Of course, he has a secret lair on a volcano. What super villain wouldn’t?
Breaking into this stronghold is only the start of the “juvenile delinquency” that Rosey and the gang must take on to get it back.

The Universal Trading Cartel has Judit trapped.
Her choices stink: prison down on a planet, or serving the Cartel as another peon in their soul-crushing machine.
Her savior? An alien trying to break the stranglehold the Cartel has over all trade.
Her job? Command an experimental spaceship containing more secrets than anyone will ever imagine, let alone believe. Enough to get them all killed if the truth ever comes out.
Her shadowy boss calls it Project Nemesis.
She’ll be free of the Cartel or die trying.
Project Nemesis—the first book in the space opera series The Long Run—takes you on a wild ride with aliens, corporate espionage, and, oh yeah, lots of snark.
