I’ve been sick the last day or so. Some sort of cold. (I tested negative for COVID, so at least there’s that.)
This has meant that all I’ve been doing for a couple of days is sitting on the couch, vegetating. Yesterday, I re-watched “The Mummy” staring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. So much fun. And something that I could do while fairly brainless.
Plus, older movies have less “soundtrack” as it were. There are times when there isn’t music playing in the background. Movies made more recently have a lot more background music than necessary, at least IMO.
Today, I might watch “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Because again, something fairly brainless that I’ve seen before that will make me happy.
The only other things I’ve been doing while I’ve been sick is knitting. I finished the cardigan I was knitting. However, I was too brainless to try to sew it together. I was planning on just starting the next cardigan, but again, too brainless to do it.
So instead, I started on a simple scarf. The pattern is called a bramble. Here’s what I knit on it yesterday.
It’s a simple pattern that I don’t have to think about much but it looks cool. I was looking for another lighter weight scarf. And this will fit the bill.
ION, we are going to the Seattle World Science Fiction/Fantasy Convention next week. The convention runs from Wednesday to Sunday. I will be on panels every day. I will be teaching a class in writing cozy fantasy. I will also be at a table in the Dealer’s Room. (I believe the table number is 704, or at least that’s what’s currently assigned to our group. Will see if that changes.)
So if you’re going to the con, please do stop by and say hello! And possibly buy some books, too.
It’s been years since we’ve attended a big con like this. The last one was CONvergence, in Mpls, back in 2023, I believe.
I will be masked for much of the con, in part, because I don’t want to give anyone the crap I’ve had for the last couple of days, but also, because I don’t want to pick up con crud.
We wore masks pretty much all the time at CONvergence. And neither of us picked up con crud. That alone kind of makes it worth it for us.
We won’t be staying at any of the con hotels. We rented a B&B out in Columbia City, and will take the lightrail into Seattle. It’ll take between 20-30 minutes to get in, but it’s SO much cheaper, and we won’t have to worry about parking, etc. Plus, the place where we’re staying has a full fridge, stove, etc. Hopefully this works out for us.
I guess that’s it for me for now. Time to go back to sitting and not doing anything.
