Rather rainy and cold today. While I might not be thrilled by this, the mountains are getting snow, which is a good thing. We have plenty of water down here—particularly with the flooding that went on earlier. However, the areas around us needed snow, so there will be more water later on in the year.

This week, the osoberries started blooming. They’re always one of the first spring flowers, though because it’s been so warm all spring, we’ve also seen a few dandelions in the yard already.
The osoberries seem very noticeable this year. Even though the flowers haven’t fully matured, the white is really visible. Driving along the highway, those splashes of white bring me a lot of joy. Spring is well on the way, and I’m SO ready for it.

Here are a couple of pictures that I shot this morning of the osoberries along the driveway.

Another sign of spring, particularly in this area?

I’m certain that down in Seattle, the cherry blossoms are already in full bloom. But we’re a bit colder where we are.
We have three cherry trees in the orchard close to the house. Those won’t bloom for a while, yet. Our trees are just starting to bud. We rarely get cherries from those trees, as it’s been so wet and cold the past few years. Except for last year , when we got so many cherries. No idea if we’ll get any this year or not.
However, we also have ornamental cherry trees on the property. We didn’t plant these trees. They’re “volunteers” that just showed up—some other tree’s seeds caught the wind and came up here.
We have a couple of them that are visible from the driveway. There may be others tucked away under the trees and difficult to reach. I seem to recall a couple down close to the area we call the fairy ring.
This cherry tree is the one that’s closest to the house.

Spring is probably my favorite season. I love being able to walk around the property and see the new growth. I don’t have any crocus blossoms (yet!) but I can see the tips peeking up from the ground. Ditto with the crocus and the tulips. Probably will be another couple of weeks before they show up.
And I think that’s all from me today. I’m still recovering from a sinus infection and my world kind of imploded this week.

Los Angeles. The city that never sleeps.

These stories take inspiration from those hard-boiled detectives of yore, with broken noses and steely eyes. The white knight you could rely on because the rest of the world had soured like a rotten apple. Even if he (or she) didn’t follow the rules.
Or maybe because they broke them in order to see justice done.
