Last week, I made more truffles. They turned out AMAZING. A chocolate-coffee ganache, rolled in roasted-salted almonds. Yum!
I have limited myself to only making truffles when I’ve finished eating the current batch. So I won’t make more until later this week.
I went ahead and bought myself good, pre-tempered chocolate that I can use for my next set of truffles. I bought three varieties: blonde, semi-sweet, and dark.

ION, Blaze and I are getting ready for Author Nation! I’m on four panels and I’m hosting a fantasy meetup. I’m moderating three of the four panels (and I may just end up taking over the fourth, we’ll see). I have business cards already delivered, books on the way, etc.
I’ve been making beef jerky to eat as a snack on the way to the gym. I make it out of heavily spiced hamburger. I’ll make more for us to have in Vegas. I’ll also carry a large sack of mixed nuts and berries for snacking.
I figure, it being Vegas, I’ll be able to find options when it comes to eating. Not cheap options, necessarily, but options none the less.
As for writing, I’m almost finished with my latest cozy fantasy, Chocolate Gems. I’ll be done with that early next week. Then I have a short story to write, then I’ll start on the next novel, which will be the third book in my science fiction “Live Contact” series.
This series is all about humans in the distant future, who have space travel, but have yet to run across living aliens. They’ve found two planets that have aliens who bombed themselves out of existence, but no living aliens.
It’s either a four or five book series. I’ll figure that out by the time I finish this next book. Titles are:
(Alien Conflict? Possible fourth book if five)
Though this might sound somewhat serious, and the pacing is fast and there is a lot of tension in these books (particularly compared to the cozy stuff I’ve been doing), but at the same time, there’s also a lot of humor. While reading through book one last night I kept snorting and laughing out loud. There’s also a tremendous amount of Voice in these books as well.
I’m just about to start book three. The first two were about 50K. I don’t think I can start and finish this book this year. I have Author Nation in November, plus in December a week in Portland, so that means two weeks when I’m not writing at all.
We’ll see, though. Last month was the best month I’ve had this year so far in terms of writing. I’ve already passed last month’s word count, and I still have a week or so of the month to go. So maybe I can write one more novel this year? That sure would make me feel better about my production.
Anyway – that’s all from me for now.
