Hey there—

In case you missed it, the Shopify store went live last week!

And yes, that coupon code for the store is still active.

There was some mix up and a different coupon code was being applied for a while. Hopefully this issue is fixed now.

I wish I could tell you that I’ve been doing a lot this week, writing and otherwise. But I’ve felt like crap. Went back to urgent care only to discover that the antibiotics I’d taken the week before hadn’t worked and I still have a high white blood cell count in my urine.

So…more antibiotics! Yay! Hopefully there will be writing by the end of the week.

But honestly? Words are still hard right now.

I was able to finish the sweater that I started at the end of March this week. I still have to weave in the extra threads, but I’m really pleased how this turned out. It’s for my sweetie. I got the yarn at Goodwill, so it was very inexpensive to make.

One of the joys of this time of year on the property are the babies. There are, of course, LOTS of baby birds around. I can always recognize them: they can’t fly straight (yet), they frequently miss whatever it is that they’re trying to land on, and they don’t really have bird song yet, just peeps.

I love watching the mama and papa birds feeding their little ones at the feeder. The babe will haltingly fly and eventually land on the feeder. Then they sit there while the adult grabs food, flies up beside them, and stuffs it into their beaks.

Eventually, the adults stop doing this and the babies learn to grab their own food. However, they’ll frequently just sit on a feeder, giving their quiet peeps, waiting for someone to feed them because they don’t want to turn around and just eat.

In addition to the birds, this year we have THREE fawns running around. One of the mama deer has two, while a second mama deer has just one. The first weeks we just saw the fawns walking through the yard, Mama not stopping, as they moved from one part of our property to the other.

But now, the fawns are starting to eat solid food. They’re mostly staying very close to Mom, but they’re starting to stray a little.

You know what this means, right?

Zoomies when they race to catch up.

Because why walk anywhere when you can bounce like a bunny to get where you’re going?

They are completely adorable, BTW.

And I guess that’s it from me. Fingers crossed, next week should be better.

Cheers!

A cozy fantasy tale about ice, fire, love, and snow cones!

When El the Ice Elf asks Mara the fire elemental to marry her, she expects an immediate YES!

However, a distinct maybe hangs between them.

Not due to a lack of love, but a lack of tradition.

The Elves have oodles of ceremonies to choose from.

As a fire elemental, Mara is singular. She doesn’t know any other fire elementals. She has no true kin. She does want to get married…but the ceremony has to have meaning for both of them.

El vows to go with Mara to the ends of the world to find rites for Mara to call her own.

Follow this unlikely couple as they defined themselves, their rituals, and their love in the cozy fantasy sequel to The Ice Elf & The Snow Cone.
