I’m still floating between those two pounds, which means my weight is really stable at this point. Am hoping to remain here, even over the coming holidays! That’s always a concern for me. I generally gain weight over the holidays. Am going to try to be smarter about it this year, and not allow my weight to creep up.
In the past, I’ve figured that sure, my weight goes up over the holidays. But then I can bring it right back down after the start of the year.
However, as I’ve gotten older, it’s much more difficult to lose the weight. So at this point, I’m instead going to focus on not putting on any, if possible.
I didn’t get a lot of writing done last week. Only about 8K. Most of that was due to life.
I averaged 7K steps last week, with only one day over 10K. I’m actually really pleased with that given life.
And what do I mean by life that happened last week? I tweaked my back/right hip. It was so painful that I couldn’t ignore it. Because I was so distracted, I ended up not writing.
It’s really bad when a physical injury prevents me from writing.
I have exercises to do, and chairs that I should not sit in, to get my hip moving again.
Today is another normal Monday for us. It’s nice to be getting back into a regular routine. My routine has changed slightly, of course.
I’ve started eating in the mornings. Not first thing, as I still take thyroid medicine and I should wait at least an hour, preferably two, before I start eating.
But at this point, the first thing I’m eating in the morning is 2 oz. of my bacon liver pate. Mmmm. Sets me right up with lots of protein and fat. Then I will drink my cup of bone broth. During the summer I wasn’t as consistent about drinking it. Now that it’s colder in the morning, a good cup of broth is lovely.
This week is a pork broth, very mild in taste. The “broth” itself is very gelatinous. The last couple of batches have been like this, and my skin is so soft and smooth.
One of the local little farm stands is advertising that they have quince for sale. We still have four quinces ripening on our tree. We’re going to purchase some quince and experiment a little with recipes before we harvest and use ours.
Have you ever had quince? Do you have a favorite dish or recipe you’d like to share?
