I did not lose any weight this last week. I also didn’t gain any. I’m taking that as a win.

I had four days last week of over 10K steps. Plus, my average remained above 9K, which I take as a win.

As for the writing, I did a lot better, even though I didn’t have that may words last week. While being distracted by the world at large is a thing, a larger part of my problem was simply hormones. As soon as my period was over, my brain was “there” again.

*le sigh*

I know my period will be over someday. And this last one was very light. I’m still waiting for that day to come, though.

We did a Costco run last week. We don’t go to Costco very often, maybe once every couple of months or so, and it’s mainly for things we can’t get elsewhere.

This time, I picked up a bag of lemons. This weekend, I peeled half a dozen lemons, cut the rinds into pieces, then dried them. I juiced what was left, and put the juice into ice cube trays.

For the last couple of mornings, I’ve been able to add dried lemon peel to my tea. I make my own tea every morning. I have loose ingredients, such as dried elderberries, hibiscus petals, rose hips, licorice, lemon grass, plain rooibos, mint, etc. I put what sounds good into a teabag and make tea from it.

This morning, I have elderberry, hibiscus, ginger, lemon tea. It’s kind of awesome. I tend to have some sort of berry tea in the mornings, while I have a more minty variety in the afternoon/evening.

And speaking of tea – I made kombucha from rooibos tea this last week. OMG is that yummy. It’s a lot warmer drink, if that makes sense. It isn’t as tangy, either. Or rather, I killed it before it got too spicy and fermented. I didn’t add any flavors to it. We’re drinking it straight.

It’s so good. Let me put it this way – chances are that I’m going to be changing varieties with every batch, namely, one with black tea, then one with rooibos.

Making my own kombucha has been fun. It’s warmer, so the batches are brewing faster. I love all the varieties I get to make during the second fermentation, the various flavors that I get to add.

Drinking my kombucha every day has also made a difference to my gut health. I can say this without doubt.

I’m fairly certain that I have a healthy gut. At least, 95% of the time. Then I have my period. I don’t change anything in my diet, but my gut changes.

Now, with the kombucha, my gut stays healthy even during my period. It’s one of the biggest changes for me. It’s really good.

So how are you this week? Looking forward to it? I have SO MUCH TO DO. For the next six months, I need to be super organized and stay on top of everything. This is actually a good thing, as when I’m busy like this, with a lot of hard deadlines, I’ll stay focused on the work in front of me and not so distracted by the world.

Stay safe.
