As should surprise no one, not even me, I completely missed my word count goals for April. Only did about 19K.

*le sigh*

I’m not convinced I could have done a lot more, not given the plague and being sick and everything else.

Will I do better in May? I certainly hope so! I feel as if my brain is all the way back, as if I can actually start writing again.

The last few days I’ve been incorporating first reader comments on a mystery novel. I will hopefully finish that today, though I know I’m going to need to redo part of one chapter. Will finish it tomorrow at the latest, then back to the actual writing!

The weather has been nicer here, at least some of the time. So I’ve been getting in a lot of steps. As well as yard work! I have things to plant today, as well as dealing with the composter.

I am starting to build a patio out behind the main house. It is very exciting. I really needed a project (or two!) to keep me going. I’ve started digging out the area where I’m planning on building the patio. That’s going to take some time, to remove seven inches of dirt and cart it away to the side of the house. I’ve got time, though.

In addition, I’m almost finished cutting the pieces for the top of a new quilt. This is a small quilt that will live on the couch in the main house, that I will share with the kitty.

The idea for this quilt came about because I have two shirts that I stole from my dad a couple of decades ago, probably in 1997 or 1998. They’re really soft wool. However, the collars and cuffs are going. I didn’t want to remake the shirts, so instead, I’m using the fabric in a quilt.

I knew that I had extra fabric in one of my storage boxes in the barn. So I went looking.

Many, many years ago, I bought a bunch of fat squares for making a quilt that I never got around to doing. All the fabric has cats on it.

I’d forgotten that I had bought this material. When I went searching through my boxes, I found it. It was in the first box I opened. I figure that was a sign from the Universe that this quilt was supposed to happen. There will be pictures later as it’s starting to come together.

I think that’s it from me. I have SO MUCH going on in May! However, I am hoping that this is a good thing, that I’ll just move rapidly from one thing to the next.

How are you holding up? Any new exciting projects that you’re starting?
