I’m writing this morning in a coffeeshop.
I’ve been having difficulty writing at home recently. Figured it was just the cozy mystery. Except that I’ve been having some problems with writing the next novel as well.
Writing shouldn’t be hard. It should be easy. If I’m having difficulty forming words and focusing, there’s a problem.
I’ve had to change my writing habit more than once. It’s been quite a while since I’ve had to. But I remember more than once changing from writing at home to going and writing in a coffeeshop.
Now, mind you, I do NOT like getting and leaving my house. I really despise driving first thing in the morning. At least in the city, I could walk to a coffee shop. I have to drive to get anywhere out at the property.
However, I’m still at a coffeeshop this morning. I need to be able to write. Yesterday, I had to go get a tire fixed on the truck, so I wrote at the tire shop, then at a restaurant. And the writing was EASY. The words just flowed.
I was thinking about it yesterday. I realized that I did not want to go to the same coffeeshop every morning. Writer brain was so excited about going to a different shop every day.
So here I am!
I had serious problems sleeping last night. I’m really tired this morning. One of the good things I can say about this plan is that driving wakes me up. It’s like a cold shower. It’s a hard wakeup. But I’m awake and blogging, and now I’m going to go write fiction. It’s a little difficult with all the talking going on. There’s a group that evidently meets here every morning, so it’s a good thing I’m planning on going lots of different shops.
What process have you had to change recently? Big or small.
Also – tomorrow I’ll be announcing a BOGO for the bundle. Stay tuned!
