I’m still waking up amazingly hungry in the mornings. I was hoping that feeling would have disappeared by now, but no.
I’ve been really good at reducing the number of calories I’m eating every day by planning my meals out ahead of time.
That’s a problem. Though I don’t consider myself very disciplined, I’m completely capable of it.
When I look at the number of calories I’ve been consuming over the last four days, I come up with an average of 1200. My goal is 1400, but I’ve only made that one day.
I know that these numbers are likely not 100% accurate. Though I measure some things, I don’t measure everything I eat, and I’m guessing sometimes.
According to the Internets, based on my weight, height, age, and activity level, I should be eating 1800 calories a day for weight maintenance, 1550 for .5 lb/week loss, and 1300 for 1 lb/week loss.
I choose 1400 per day, for 1 lb/week loss, because according to my FitBit my average calorie burn is 1500, almost 1600. Since my FitBit doesn’t measure everything, I figure 1800 is probably pretty accurate.
But 1300 calories is not enough food for me. (And 1200 really isn’t.) I need to plan better today and consume more calories. That aren’t protein.
So – just went through the exercise of planning out what to eat. I’m only 30 calories shy of my goal of 1400, and slightly over for carbs, fat, and protein. I think that’s okay.
I’ve been pretty good at maintaining 10K steps per week. I won’t step on the scale again until Monday morning, so I won’t know if I’ve made any progress until then. Except that I just put on a pair of jeans that at one point were loose, were recently very tight, and today fit comfortably.
To get in my steps, I’ve been going to the gym with my kindle, getting up on the treadmill and walking for 40 minutes. That’s actually been a wonderful break for me. I get to lose myself in a book and I’m getting exercise, though it doesn’t feel like exercise. The time passes quickly. I’ve set myself up at a pace of 3.8 mph at this point. Am slowly working my way back up to 4.0 mph.
I continue to do yoga most every morning. Some mornings it’s just more stretching than doing any yoga poses, like this morning. I got my second shingles vaccine yesterday. Like the previous time, the injection spot is REALLY sore. Downward dog, or any pose supporting myself with my arms, was a bad idea this morning. I had hoped that walking yesterday would help relieve the pain, but nope. It’s just going to be sore for the next few days.
And I guess that’s it for a random update. Here’s the calorie counter I used:https://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html
