Because I am aware that I have controlling/obsessive tendencies, particularly around food, I only weigh myself once a week, Monday mornings, before I shower. (Figure I’m not carrying enough dirt to make a difference (^_^))
After a week of dieting, eating a lot less, I feel different. I feel as though I can see changes in my physical body, even after such a short while. I feel as though my weight is starting to shift around, leaving my belly.
According to the scale, I lost a single pound. Maybe. (I have an analog scale and I wasn’t wearing my glasses.) I had hopes for more, that maybe, by some miracle, I’d have dropped 2-3 pounds.
Nope. Didn’t happen.
I will admit to being disappointed, even though I knew that even a pound was a lot. This weight has been very stubborn. I’m older, perimenopausal, etc. I had hoped that since I didn’t eat a lot at the start of the week that would have made a larger difference.
Part of the problem is that I remain hungrier than usual. For a couple of days I wasn’t. That was because I wasn’t walking 10K steps. Got back to walking yesterday, and this morning I’m hungry again. So my body is still not used to this level of food paired with this level of activity. I’m just assuming that because I’m older, my body is slower to adapt to thing than it used to be.
*le sigh*
I have a lot more sympathy for my mom who yo-yo dieted for decades. I remember one Christmas buying her half a dozen beautiful silk shirts that were in her smaller size, to encourage her to remain on course. I swore I would never do that. And I haven’t for the most part. This is only the second time I’ve gone on what I would call a serious diet, counting calories and such. Any other time I needed to lose weight I just watched what I ate for a while and the weight came off.
We had a very good weekend. I had a wonderful time at the MWA event. Then yesterday, Blaze and I drove down to Portland for a business meeting. We planned out some things that are really exciting – stay tuned for more details!
I hope that you’re looking forward to your week. I’m planning on drying a bunch more herbs. What are you looking forward to this week?
