ION – I’m working on a sekrit, MYSTERIOUS project. I will be vague-booking about this until it’s finally announced, which will be more than a year from now. But Steps are being Taken, Progress is being Made. That’s all I want to say about this matter at this point.
I’m at the tiny house this morning, for the first time in a long while. There’s sunshine this morning, and the crabapple is in glorious bloom in the upper meadow. That shock of color, the deep purple against all the spring green, is just lovely.
Spring has really taken hold here. We’re actually going to need to mow the grass this week. The daffodils will probably bloom this week. The cherries and pears have already been in full bloom. Apples are leafing hard, and will bloom in a few weeks.
We planted two little rhododendrons this year. Don’t know if either of them will bloom this year or not. They have lots of buds, but it’s been so cold and wet recently. We’ll see.
The mint has gone insane, as mint is wont to do. I’ll be harvesting that over the next couple of weeks. I’m going to dry it all individually. However, I’m also going to mix some of the different flavors together for a “super mint” tea. (Peppermint, spearmint, orange mint, apple mint, chocolate mint, plus wintergreen.)
I’m also going to be harvesting some of the oregano. We have Greek oregano, Italian also I believe, as well as wild oregano that just grows at the top of the septic field. It’s seen the mint’s bid for going balls to the walls and has decided to challenge it, to see which can grow craziest.
Getting back to the fiction this morning as well. Kind of anxious to do so. It’s been too long. I have been working on other things, not just goofing off. Though there has been some goofing off. I needed it. I’ve been working too much, and while I don’t want to say I was close to burning out, I could see it in the distance.
I hope that you’re having a lovely Monday! What’s your favorite part of spring? Mine has always been the flowers blooming and the world coming back to life.
