Over the weekend we bought a U-cut Christmas tree. It’s about eight feet tall, maybe a bit taller. Unfortunately, the stand I had was for a smaller tree, and so yesterday, the tree fell over. Twice.

I got us a new stand. Last night, while we were putting the tree into the stand, it abruptly shifted.

One of my fingers got smashed between the trunk and the stand.

The good news is that I didn’t break it. Just bruised it good. Turned purple almost immediately and swelled up. Iced it (a lot) yesterday. It’s still swollen this morning, but a lot less painful than I thought it would be.

Still. Ow.

In other news, I followed the plan yesterday, as it were. I used my productivity planner, and I prioritized five things and then I went and did most of them. (Missed sending an email, but while it’s time critical, it didn’t absolutely have to be done yesterday.)

When I looked at the list and the fact that I’d accomplished almost all of it, the first thing that went through my head was that there must be something wrong with the list if I could mostly finish it.

Sigh.

I am so used to having such a huge list that I never finish that I am completely out of the habit of almost, mostly finishing anything.

Yeah, that’s obviously part of the reason why I never give myself credit for anything.

I do have this niggling fear that I’m Doing It Wrong. That I’m missing the most important things by focusing on a smaller list of items that I can actually do.

That’s just part of the learning curve. Learning is never comfortable.

I do think that this will help me figure out exactly what I can do in, say, a week’s time, so that I’ll be able to budge my time better overall. If nothing else, I’ve certainly thought a lot about it.

As for the writing, I only managed about 2000 words net yesterday. I probably wrote about 3500, but I had to throw out a bunch of what I’d written and start over because the scene just wasn’t working. This morning, I laid in bed and thought a lot about the story, and I think I know where I need to go next. Fingers virtually crossed, because physically doing that with the one hand is still ow.

I hope that your week is going swimmingly!
