Tried eggs for the first time in three months.
Based on my reaction, eggs are now permanently OFF the menu.
Started off with vertigo and pressure in my head. The reaction wasn’t that bad at the start. I wondered if perhaps I had merely a slight sensitivity, and I could have eggs now and again.
Then the headache got worse. It really wanted to be a migraine, but I did what I usually do, drank water with salt, did a lot of deep breathing, and meditated. I was able to keep working, so the headache wasn’t that bad.
After I turned out the lights to try to go to sleep, my arm kept itching. Finally turned the light back on to see if I’d gotten bitten by a bug or something.
Nope. Not a bug bite. Instead, a rash that went from wrist to elbow. It looked similar to what my sweetie gets when he eats mushrooms, so possibly hives. They kept spreading up to my neck, then welts started appearing on my ankles.
Finally, the welts went down enough that I tried going back to sleep.
Now, when I get something like a flu shot, or any shot that’s been cultured in eggs, I get shooting pains from my shoulders to my wrists and my hands throb and ache.
After the rash had died down, I got those lovely shooting pains, followed by aching hands. (They still hurt.)
This morning, I’m dealing with a headache that would really love to transform into a migraine. I’m “treating” it per usual, fasting, water with salt, deep breathing, mindful walking.
Two years ago, I suddenly went from having my usual amount of migraines to a chronic amount. May 2015 I had my usual 2 migraines. June 2015 I ended up with 12 migraines, and then continued to have way too many migraines every month.
I don’t know what caused that abrupt shift. I don’t believe in a single cause. I know that part of it was probably too much corn starch in my diet. The thyroid pills I took every day had corn starch in them, along with most of the other pills I was taking.
Now, I’m wondering if my body also said at that point, “Enough with the eggs already!” I’d always been sensitive to eggs, always had a bad reaction to shots. Now, I can’t eat them at all.
Next step: I already have an appointment to see my naturopath on Thursday. Will talk with him about getting more specific allergy testing done.
