Rain rain go away

I got up early this morning so that I could clean the kitchen before I started my day. Less than 10 minutes after I got up, someone started pounding on my door. It was one of the other residents — the roof was (is) leaking into one of the third floor units.

From about 7:15 until 10:30 I was part of a bucket brigade, first on the roof, then down below. The water from the roof was no longer draining into the ground, but had started flooding into the building next to ours, so we needed to divert the water from there as well.

I am taking a break to eat and have some coffee, then I’m going back to bailing/redirecting water (we’re building a temporary piping system to carry the water away.)

Last week wasn’t the best week. . . I was sincerely hoping that this week would be better. So far — not looking that way.

    • I wish it would stop raining for a bit — but I doubt it’s going to stop for a few days. . .

  1. Ew! That totally sucks. I woke up a couple times last night thinking water was dripping through my ceiling…here’s hoping that’s not actually happening as I type this, I would not be surprised.

I like Northwest rain, but within reason!

    • It did suck. And I’m so exhausted still. I really hope your place doesn’t get waterlogged, but you are welcome to crash here if it does. And while I don’t generally mind the rain, this really is getting excessive.

  2. Must be the leaky season… our downstairs neighbor found water leaking from her ceiling which, alas, seems somehow related to our shower. Currently researching and solving the problem…

  3. I was wondering how you were doing, once I heard on the evening news that massive rain had taken the place of your snow storm… good luck with trying to keep your collective property dry. And even though we do have to push ourselves in extreme circumstances, try to take care of yourself and not get sick!
