Progress

I was invited to a lovely knitting (and other hand-work) party tonight. I haven’t knit for a long time. I’m doing a scarf, just for fun, using a simple scallop pattern and variegated yarn. I stopped a couple of times during the writing today, once to go get the yarn, once to start the project (and eat dinner.) I found that it was a nice break — to do a couple of rows then write some more. I may do that tomorrow as well. Before the party darksylvia (and another friend) came over for a while and we wrote. It was really good for her to come over, because otherwise I may have wimped out and not finished chapter six today.

This is the official typed word count for the novel to date:

Zokutou word meterZokutou word meter
36,600 / 100,000
(36.6%)

I probably have at least another thousand already hand-written. I don’t know if I can finish up chapter seven tomorrow, but I’m going to take a good run at it. I’m not doing NaNoWriMo — I don’t want to write a 50,000 word novel in a month. Instead, my goal for the month is 30,000 words. So here’s that meter:

Zokutou word meterZokutou word meter
8,000 / 30,000
(26.7%)

I’m not worried about finishing 30,000 words this month. I’m not going anywhere or doing anything for Thanksgiving — instead, I’m using it as a four-day weekend to write. I’m really looking forward to it — having a *real* vacation on my days off (and yes, writing full-time for four days is a vacation. I’m not on contract, I have no deadline, so of course, this book is coming out fast.)
