Hi all! I know, I’ve disappeared again. I’m hoping to be around a lot more starting in January — on getting back to the writing in January and getting a life back in January and all like that. . .
The kitchen is so close to being finished. And I’ve done a little on the novel — not much, but some. And lots of thinking, about this novel and the next.
It snowed in Seattle on my birthday, so I ended up taking myself out to sushi, and not going out with my friend to dinner until the following week.
I sent out a bunch of holiday cards — if you were on the list last year chances are you got a card. Except I ran out of cards before the end, so some people didn’t.
I’m currently in Mpls for Christmas. I was dreading the holidays before they arrived. The holidays are hard on me, depressing. But I need not have worried. We had an entire house full of people. My niece had her baby on Nov 8th, and so I got to see her for the first time this Christmas. There were 16 people gathered. It was a lot of fun, actually, and I laughed until my stomach hurt — a couple of nights in a row. My niece gave my dad and both my brothers remote control cars and mayhem ensued (this was Christmas eve night.) Then on Christmas, we did a white elephant type of gift exchange. The “most awesome” gift was the rock-em sock-em robots. The “best” gifts turned out to be the ones I bought — the Jelly Belly jelly bean collection (25 different flavors!) and the demonic Christmas tree ornament (don’t ask.) Christmas night we had a dessert party, complete with chocolate fountain. It was glorious fun.
Today I walked the mall with my dad (he walks the Mall of America every week day.) Then we met the family for lunch. We just all seem to laugh a lot when we’re together. Came home, took a nap, then went out to dinner and laughed some more.
Tomorrow will be more walking with my dad, more family time, then back to Seattle on Wednesday. On New Year’s eve I’m going to the LGBT ball that’s being held at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Seattle with some friends. (http://www.seattlelgbt.org/newyearseve2005.html)
Hope that ya’ll are having a lovely holiday, or at least a short one if it isn’t as joyous as mine’s been, and that ya’ll are looking forward as much as I am to the new year!
