today

The writing was a lot harder today. I think in part it’s because I’m so tired — I managed 4 hours of sleep. Maybe. Though I had some coffee this morning, the caffeine was pretty ineffective against my wall of tiredness.

Still, managed 500 words. The end was a lot easier than the beginning. I’m wondering if it’s because of the scene I was writing. I’m now in a scene that I really *want* to write. The other, well, not so much. I need to get all the information in that scene across somehow. I may just need to redo the whole thing. I might be summarizing when I need to be going into detail, or something like that. Do the conversations in “real” time, instead of reported.

But 500 words is 500 words, and I don’t think I hate all of them. Not sure if I’m taking tomorrow off or not — I think I may — not set the alarm and just sleep until I wake up and if that means 9 AM that means 9 AM, which would leave no time for writing before the day job.

One of the good things about not sleeping last night — I thought a lot about this chapter and the next chapter, and how they dovetail together. Can’t *wait* until I get to write those two scenes. They both make me very happy. And that’s what the writing should be about, right?

  1. Go, you! This is great news! I bet you’ll be mostly done by WisCon! Just in time to have another book party!! 🙂

    • No — it’ll take longer than the time between now and WisCon to write the book. But I should have the new propsal all put together and out to my editor by then. .

And no book party this year. I didn’t get my request for a room in early enough. Plus, I wasn’t convinced I wanted to do one — with my company being bought out by Oracle, I haven’t been spending a lot of money.

  2. Motivational Feedback.

I just finished Paper Mage today and quite enjoyed it. I have a friend here in London who I think will love it and I’m recommending it to her.

Thank you! I’m glad you liked it. And thanks for recommending it too.
