Today was a *good* writing day. Might be because I’m fully caffeinated — I don’t know. Or it might be because I wrote what I needed to write. Yesterday, I thought all I had a paragraph or so to do before I would reach the next portion of the scene, that is, the part I *really* wanted to get to. Instead, it turned out to be about 800 words before I got to that part, all of which I did today. I just followed the story, followed where it needed to go, didn’t fight it, and the words came pouring out. And I don’t hate all of them. In fact, there are actually quite a few that I’m very fond of.

I’m not going to do this every time, but I thought that, for once, I would do a word count thing. I put all the chapters together into a single file and counted up the words.

Wow.

I’m about 4000 words farther than I thought I would be, that is, assuming that this chapter and the next turn out to be about 3000 words. I had thought that I would be hitting the 10,000 word count at the end of the next chapter, not two-thirds of the way through this one. I’m still going to finish the next chapter before I send what I have to the agent and editor — that way they’ll see five out of six of the first person POVs.

I’m still really looking forward to the next chapter. Though the voice I’m writing in currently is pretty clear, the voice for the next chapter is already speaking in my head, loudly (for those playing at home, the next chapter is from Iwao’s POV, and yes, his voice may end up sounding suspiciously like Billy Petersen. . .)
