Novel stats

Today:

Rewrote parts of chapter one, the interlude, as well as this chapter I’m working on, chapter 2.

Wrote an additional 500 words, including three very bad haikus.

Stopping now because I’m to the point that I’m hating every single word I’m writing. But that’s okay. I’m not a writer, but a rewriter (see above.) I can *always* rewrite, and hammer this stuff into the shape that it needs to be in.

Now — I think I’m going for a walk. Or something.

Hope you’re having a lovely holiday!

    • For my process, it’s better to get the words out, regardless of whether they’re good or bad. If I try to make every word good at first draft, I spend most of my time not writing. Then I end up rewriting everything anyway. And today, going back through it, I found that many of the words weren’t bad. The problem was that I was too outlinish — needed a hell of a lot more detail. I’ve added 200 words of detail just to the first page or so.
