The novel proposals

are away! I sent them to my agent this morning.

Whee!

I’m going to take a week off – maybe do some short fiction (a clown story perhaps?) and not worry about getting back to the novels until sometime next week.

A sequel to the first novel (PAPER MAGE/PAPER PHOENIX)

A historic fantasy novel set in Heian era Japan (1000 AD.) The main character is a female fox fairy. An evil sorcerer kills her mate, steals his soul, then reforges it into a sword. (Title still very much in flux)

Keep your fingers cross that I manage to sell either or both of these!

  1. I still love that Japanese idea, I hope they buy it (or that someone does, at least). ‘Cause I want to read it. 🙂

    • Hee. Thanks! I think it’s a pretty solid proposal at this point – what with being all plothaving and all now. (^_^)

      Hope things are going well with you

      ::smooches::

  2. Ooh! They both sound fantastic! 🙂

    Are you still with Roc? Do you know who’s taken over there? I’ve got mild curiosity. 🙂

    • Yeap – still with Roc. Liz Scheier is my editor now. She’s lovely. We get along very well.

    • Ooh! Besides Kij Johnson, who else writes in this time period?

      And see you in a little more than a week! w00t!

      • Kara Dalkey, who’s written three Heian fantasies and a historical of the Genpei war. Then there’s the author of Across the Nightngale Floor and its sequels. There’s at least one other YA, but I’m blanking on name/title.

        WFC! Not to mention, I get to see Janni in under a week. (She’s at a workshop with Jane Yolen now.)

        —L.

        • I’ve read the Genpei novel. I didn’t know about the others – will have to pick those up. I’m planning on buying at least a box worth of book while I’m in Tuscon. As well as a box worth of clothes. . .
